Has Microsoft forgotten that it's claim to fame is volume and not quality?
Perhaps they can do what they did to develop excel?
Find some freeware GIS package then close the archetecture and market it as the
holy grail of GIS.
We need intuitive products that help us get work done and we need
work-arounds when the product fails. Me thinks, "The quality software train
has left the station, again, without Microsoft. "
In the finest Microsoft tradition, will we be left overfed and undernourished
in it's GIS market?
Personally, I think this represents a great opportunity to diversify our diets and
kick the Microsoft habit.
