This is actually kind of funny that you guys would do a story on this. CrimeMapping.com is actually far behind other crime mapping websites like CrimeReports.com and SpotCrime.com. The fact that CrimeMapping.com has three cities in the midwest is not very big news considering that CrimeReports has crime data for about 50 cities across the midwest and SpotCrime (although their data is not as up-to-date) is comparable in size. CrimeMapping.com is a bit behind the times.

I heard that CrimeMapping.com actually validates their information before they post it at their sites and they never scrape data from other sites. Accuracy and integrity are important. Neighborhood watch groups throughout Duluth are using the Crime Alerts feature in CrimeMapping.com. CrimeMapping.com also never posts any information with the permission of each police department. They also have over 50 agencies throughout the US subscribing to their service.
