It has been a disaster since malaysia was attacked by one of mother nature wants, haze and flash flood. Mitigation was so tough to hande when no spatial data available online. Everywhere in the world geospatial data has been use as the model of the earth to be used for management and planning. Developed country has yet to embarked fully in thr web-based GIS. Developing nations has a lot to learn from GIS nation though the transfer in technology should be taking place from west to east part of the wolrd. South East Asia is increasingly boarding into the geospatial technology, in line with with what Digital Globe has done. Google is capturing all the vector data inforamtion from all over the wolrd. But can they give back the whole holistic data of a nation for sharing by the host country?? Eveyready geospatial data is very difficult to be made available over here. Tio stimulate sharing is a hard task. Government has yet to realise the significant value of GIS. Yes Murphy has realise only when he face the air plae unfortune occasion.
