GIS/GPS software help? Report this article as Inappropriate to us !!!Login to Reply

Looking for the best software to accomplish the following general specs:  Any help appreciated.
GIS specs:
1)High resolution satellite imagery with corresponding lat/long/elev data
2)Software that allows for tagging image content, i.e. outlining a bridge and tagging it as a bridge
3)Flexibility to add personal descriptive layers.  i.e if I need to select a region in a satellite image, and label it “prospective region”
4)Ability to render a graphical image of a region after labeling it with my personal descriptive layers.  In effect cleaning up the satellite image into a cartoon type image…
5)Ability to integrate personal GPS coordinates and location descriptions
6)Ability to link to my website (html or .NET), or to a wireless device through Java.

Autodesk has a product called AutoCAD Civil 3D, this is both a CAD and GIS product for the Civil Engineeiring field.  With Civil 3D you can read Many GPS formater, and use that data to create surfaces.  The product is dynamic and supports multipal CAD, and Shape file formats as well.  It also has the capability to natively read and import satelite images.  for more on Civil 3D contact me at
