Hi Guys

I'm a newbie here so excuse the amatureness.

I am trying to find out how to generate the following pattern of ESRI Shape file polygons.
They are made up of eight 45-45-90 right triangle polygons. In the pattern of what is called Tetrakis square tiling. See Example Attached

With ArcMap Start Editing the shapefile.  Using the Sketch Tool click at one of the outer corners (try top left).  Right click> Direction/Length and input 270 (dir) and 1/2 of total side length.  Repeat to complete that side.  Repeat with direction of 0 and same length to create 2 bottom segments, then twice with direction of 90, then once with direction of 180.  Right click> Finish Sketch.  On Editor menu, set snapping to Vertex for your shapefile.  Select your newly drawn square.  On Editor toolbar, change Task to Cut Polygon Features.  You can use one long line to do all of the bisecting.  Using Sketch Tool click on upper left corner (it should snap) and then lower right.  Click outside square to the right (anywhere) and then click on upper right corner, then lower left, then outside square again.  Then click on a line midpoint (should snap) and the one across from it, click outside the square and do the final line across the square.  Double click on the last point or outside the square.
