Stanley M. Miller, PhD, PE, CPESC, joins GeoEngineers Applied Technology Group

Stan Miller has recently joined GeoEngineers in the Applied Technology Group. His work has focused on applying geostatistics to spatial modeling, and he is currently working with us to further enhance our GeoPredict toolkit. Stan’s current projects at GeoEngineers include modifying GeoPredict for predicting soil contaminant characterization (Cesium 137) and sampling design at Idaho National Laboratories. We have been collaborating with Stan since 2002 and are pleased to have him as an employee of GeoEngineers.

Prior to joining GeoEngineers, Stan has been a teacher and researcher in geological engineering, with most of that time as a professor at the University of Idaho, Moscow, Idaho (as of January, he will be a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Civil Engineering at the university). His geotechnical work has focused on applied rock engineering, probabilistic methods in geotechnical engineering, slope stabilization, and erosion/sediment control. He also has provided geotechnical and environmental consulting services for natural resource projects, landslide stabilization and geosynthetic-reinforced earth structures, characterization of sites with contaminated soils or water, private and public works construction projects, and erosion-control inspections and monitoring.

Stan earned his BS and MS degrees in Geological Engineering from the University of Arizona and his PhD from the University of Wyoming. He is a licensed professional engineer in six western states and also is a Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control.
