This shift in the CEO responsibility is a logical step in the evolution of the company and reflects succession planning the board initiated a year ago. While Kaplan will retire from his day-to-day role at the Company, he will continue to serve as a member of the Company's Board of Directors in which capacity he will continue to offer advice and counsel.
Over the last 10 years, Kaplan has delivered on his vast experience establishing new ventures by successfully leading Pictometry to prominence in the geospatial industry, steering it from start-up to high growth, and from a domestic to a global enterprise.
"Dick's contribution has been immense. His clear vision and passionate commitment have driven the growth of an important company that is providing a high level of service to clients and partners worldwide. He leaves me a business with great momentum," Mr. Hurwitz stated.
Rick Hurwitz who has served as the Chairman of Pictometry's Board for the past seven years is an accomplished leader with a track-record of building high growth technology-based service companies. He brings a great mix of energy, inspiration, operational experience, technical breadth and a passion for customer care. Hurwitz will focus on amplifying Pictometry's unique position within the geospatial industry and in bringing appropriate planning and follow-up and control of the operations.
Kaplan stated, "Rick has been a very active Chairman over the years and has been a great help in building this outstanding company. His brilliance and intimate knowledge of the company makes him a great choice. I am looking forward to him leading the company to new heights and even faster growth in the future."
