ANADIGICS Announces New Worldwide WiMAX 4G Power Amplifier for Mobile Applications in the 2.3-2.7 GHz Spectrum

BARCELONA, SPAIN and WARREN, NJ -- (MARKET WIRE) -- Feb 17, 2009 -- ANADIGICS, Inc. (NASDAQ: ANAD), today launched the AWM6424, a new worldwide WiMAX 4G power amplifier (PA) that provides exceptional linearity and efficiency across the 2.3-2.7 GHz frequency range. Adopting the same package footprint and pin out as ANADIGICS' existing AWM6422 and AWM6423 WiMAX PAs, the new device's wideband capability significantly simplifies the design of broadband mobile wireless equipment intended to operate in multiple international destinations.

Designed to support the current IEEE 802.16 and future 4G mobile wireless standards, the AWM6424 provides a highly linear and power-efficient solution for mobile subscriber products that connect to broadband wireless services in South Korea and Malaysia (the 2.3-2.4 GHz spectrum) and the U.S., Taiwan, Russia and Japan (the 2.5-2.7 GHz band). The AWM6424 complies with recommended ETSI and WiMAX Forum spectrum mask limits at +23.5 dBm output power when powered by a 3.3 V supply. Under these operating conditions, the power efficiency of the device exceeds 20%. An increase in supply voltage up to 4.2 V produces an increase in the maximum linear output power, a feature which supports systems that require slightly higher subscriber transmit power levels.

The AWM6424 includes an integrated 25dB step attenuator, output power detector, and input and output RF impedance matching circuits. Offered in a 4.5 x 4.5 x 1.0 mm low-profile module, this highly integrated device minimizes board layout space and enables RF front end solutions for size-constrained applications.

"With commercial WiMAX services now available in two major US cities, and further roll-outs expected in 2009 across other parts of North America, Taiwan and Japan, it's clear that there will be a mounting demand for high performance WiMAX power amplifiers," reports Glenn Eswein, Director of Product Marketing for Broadband Business at ANADIGICS. "The wideband performance and integrated features of the AWM6424 simplify radio designs, accelerate product development cycles, and enable equipment manufacturers to reduce external component costs and minimize inventories.

"The AWM6424's ability to provide exceptional linearity and efficiency while handling 4G signals is an indication of ANADIGICS' engineering expertise and technology advantages, and will ultimately lead to broadband mobile wireless devices with faster data rates for a more satisfying end-user experience," Eswein says.

Utilizing ANADIGICS' proprietary InGaP-Plus™ technology, the AWM6424 provides exceptional RF performance:

-- 30 dB Gain
-- 2.5% EVM at +22 dBm (+3.3V supply)
-- 4% EVM at +23.5 dBm (+3.3V supply)
-- 2.5% EVM at +23.5 dBm (+4.2V supply)
-- 4% EVM at +25 dBm (+4.2V supply)
