Silicon Image HDMI and Serial ATA Core IP Available in State-of-the-Art Process Technologies

(NASDAQ: SIMG), a leader in multi-gigabit semiconductor solutions for the secure transmission and storage of rich digital media, today launched High- Definition Multimedia Interface(TM) (HDMI(TM)) and Serial ATA (SATA) core intellectual property (IP) for integration into the latest system-on-chip (SoC) technologies. Silicon Image has ported its SATALink(TM) SATA core to multiple 90nm and 0.13-micron foundry processes and is currently porting its PanelLink(R) HDMI core to 0.13-micron foundry processes-allowing licensing customers to integrate the most advanced SATA and HDMI functionality in their market-leading SoC implementations.

Licensing core IP from Silicon Image has many benefits. Silicon Image's silicon-proven IP enables customers to achieve quicker time-to-market through shorter design cycles, with lower implementation risk and faster compliance testing. IP customers can also achieve lower costs by allocating fewer engineering resources and reducing the number of passes through the fab, while facilitating higher levels of chip integration. Silicon Image's expertise in the development, manufacture and testing of SATA and HDMI mixed-signal products provides IP customers with the confidence they need to develop integrated semiconductor solutions on a timely basis.

Silicon Image SATA IP cores support 1.5 and 3.0 Gb/s data transfer rates and advanced SATA features such as hot plug, Native Command Queuing, port multipliers with Frame Information Structure (FIS)-based switching and extended cable lengths, as well as sophisticated RAID capabilities.

SATA host-side core IP includes the Transport, Link and PHY layers with PCI, PCI-X or AMBA SoC internal interface options. Device-side SATA core IP combines the Transport, Link and PHY layers with parallel ATA or AMBA SOC internal interface options. The SATA host and device cores may be licensed as a single block or as separate PHY and Link/Transport blocks. Silicon Image also licenses PCI Express and Fibre Channel core IP as well as high-speed SerDes (Serializer/Deserializer) PHY technology.

Silicon Image has licensed IP to ATI, MediaTek, Novatek, Samsung, Sunplus, Trident and Weltrend, as well as many other leading SoC manufacturers worldwide.
