Boundless and Crunchy Data Partner for Enterprise PostgreSQL Support and Services

Partnership Expands PostgreSQL Support and Services Capabilities for GIS Applications

New York, NY and Charleston, SC – January 21, 2016 - Boundless, the leading provider of open source geospatial software and services, and Crunchy Data, the leading provider of trusted open source PostgreSQL and enterprise PostgreSQL technology, support and training, today announced a partnership to expand the availability of Enterprise-class PostgreSQL and PostgreSQL support and services for GIS applications and use cases.

PostgreSQL is a powerful, open source, object-relational database system with more than 15 years of active development and a strong global development community. It is used across a wide variety of relational database use cases, including in conjunction with PostGIS to provide spatial objects and store and query for information about location and mapping.

Crunchy Certified PostgreSQL is a trusted open source PostgreSQL distribution commercially supported by Crunchy Data.  To ensure that Crunchy Certified PostgreSQL represents the most trusted open source enterprise PostgreSQL distribution, Crunchy has submitted Crunchy Certified PostgreSQL for evaluation at Common Criteria Evaluation Assurance Level (EAL) 2+, an international standard for computer security certification. Crunchy Certified PostgreSQL has achieved “In Evaluation” status. Upon successful completion of the Common Criteria EAL 2+, Crunchy Certified PostgreSQL is expected to become the first commercially available open source relational database management system to receive Common Criteria certification.

Boundless and Crunchy Data are partnering in support of customers looking for trusted open source software and services specific to their increasingly complex GIS data environments. OpenGeo Suite Enterprise customers with sophisticated PostGIS implementations will be able to leverage Crunchy Certified PostgreSQL to run secure, high-performance and highly reliable environments with trusted open source PostgreSQL and enterprise PostgreSQL support and services provided by Crunchy Data.
