Urban Crossroads, Inc. deploys Tadpole Technology's GO! Sync for ArcPad to automate The City of Irvine's tree inspection system.

Urban Crossroads worked with The City of Irvine to design and deliver a centralized geodatabase that consolidates disparate datasets and provides multiple workers with access to real-time information about numerous infrastructure assets. The geographic information system (GIS), built on ESRI's ArcSDE(R)technology, supports the concurrent viewing and editing of data by users across multiple departments, via a customized user-friendly interface. Extending the use of its GIS to support the operational needs of a range of business processes is an important goal for The City of Irvine.

GO! Sync for ArcPad became a necessary requirement when The City of Irvine sought to deploy GIS data in the field on multiple handheld computers. Having developed a custom tree-site inventory application for handheld devices, using ESRI's ArcPad software on Trimble's GeoXT GPS units, Urban Crossroads realized that they needed a reliable and efficient data management tool.

Beth Dennis, Project Manager at Urban Crossroads explains "With this mobile implementation we needed to enhance the system so that users could easily download feature classes for viewing and editing remotely and upload their edited data back to the enterprise. Sync for ArcPad, we were able to fully automate the data transfer process so that The City workers simply dock their mobile devices to upload their data and receive back relevant updates.
