3D Training Institute (3DTi) becomes one of the first Autodesk ATC’s to teach 3ds Max, Maya, Revit, Inventor, and AutoCad, using a combination of live on-line, instructor led sessions and self-paced materials, with a production-based curriculum, in a virtual classroom.

New York, NY (PRWEB) June 28, 2013

3D Training Institute (3DTi) is proud to announce that they have become one of the first live on-line training centers to become an Autodesk Authorized Training Center (ATC).

In fact, 3DTi has the unique distinction of arguably being the first company to launch live on-line classes back in 2007. The live on-line format allows anyone with an internet connection to learn from home or their place of work with a live instructor, at set times over the Internet. Now, as an Autodesk Authorized Training Center, 3DTi will be able to offer additional benefits to students, such as a certificate of proficiency from Autodesk, and access to the Autodesk Student Community to obtain a free three year license in the software they are learning.

The reason 3D Training Institute switched from its classroom training format to online training is an interesting story by itself. 3D Training Institute’s programs were initially developed in 1998 by production professionals who were having a difficult time finding skilled talent. In fact, when they were first launched in 1999, 3DTi’s classes were conducted at the Autodesk Resource Center, located within the Curious Pictures Facility and later moved to a much larger training space on 5th Avenue, in New York City.

Since 3DTi’s production based programs were so unique, they attracted students not only from New York, but from all over the country, and even abroad. Students were driving to New York from New Hampshire, Washington DC, and one even flew in from Florida. But, one student, Dr. Doshi, a medical researcher who was looking for a career change, came all the way from London to live in New York City, just to be able to attend 3DTi’s program.

The efforts put in by the students to attend the classroom training paid off. For instance, Dr. Doshi now runs his own animation studio in London. Even leading trade publications such as Computer Graphics World (CGW) recognized 3DTi as a premier school that puts its students on the career fast track. Still, 3DTi was looking for a way to extend its unique course offering to other students who could not afford the time or money to come to its classroom programs in New York.

The opportunity came in 2007 when web technologies such as WebEx made it possible to conduct live instructor-led training online. Ever since then, 3DTi has helped a significant number of people change their careers and their lives with their innovative 16 week production based training programs which use a combination of self-paced training materials and live instructor-led sessions.

Eric Nercessian already had a Master’s Degree from NJIT when he came to 3DTi. "I needed a program that would give me real world training, was affordable, and worked around my schedule."

For Eric, this real world training led to a job in military training simulations. After Eric posted his reel and portfolio on line, he got a call from a movie director. Eric then joined a group of professionals working on a web series which was funded by a Kickstarter project that received over $100,000 in funding.

Another 3DTi student, Chris Jennings, had previously earned an advanced degree, but realized he still needed more training and joined the 3DTi production based programs. Having a family and job responsibilities, he needed something that worked with his schedule.

“I had a day job. I didn’t have time to go to a classroom.” Chris joined the 3DTi production based programs.

“The live on-line instruction was great. The instructors teach you how to create work based on what clients want.” Chris went on to win an Emmy based on his work for a National Geographic special.

Susan Bostian, from the 3DTi team says “We have had a long standing relationship with Autodesk and we are excited about the additional benefits we can provide to our students as an Authorized Autodesk Training Center. We are constantly striving to provide the best training and tools available to help more people learn Autodesk Software and find creative and fulfilling careers in the industry. We believe that partnering with Autodesk as an Authorized Training Center will help us take another step forward in achieving that goal.”
