Accellera Portable Test and Stimulus Early Adopter II Release Available for Public Review

ELK GROVE, Calif., March 05, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Accellera Systems Initiative (Accellera), the electronics industry organization focused on the creation and adoption of electronic design automation (EDA) and intellectual property (IP) standards, announced today that an Early Adopter II release of the Portable Test and Stimulus Standard has been made available by the Portable Stimulus Working Group for public review. The Early Adopter II version is immediately available for download and review until March 30, 2018.

The Early Adopter II release includes additional work done by the working group since the release in June 2017 of the Early Adopter version, including user feedback from the earlier version.  The working group continues to work to ensure a robust, feature-rich release which will enable users and vendors to benefit from the powerful productivity-increasing technology with the confidence that comes from using an approved Accellera Standard.

The emerging Portable Test and Stimulus Standard defines a domain-specific language (DSL) and an accompanying semantically-equivalent C++ library to create a single representation of stimulus and test scenarios usable by a variety of users across different levels of integration under different configurations. It will permit the generation of multiple scenarios from a single representation of test intent, and allow tools to create different implementations of a scenario that run on a variety of execution platforms, including, but not limited to, simulation, emulation, FPGA prototyping, post-silicon and virtual platforms.

The standard includes features to allow:

  • Abstract behavioral specification and scheduling
  • Data structures, constrained randomization and data flow modeling
  • Scenario-level randomization from abstract partial specifications to preserve critical intent
  • Encapsulation, composition and reuse of modeling components

With this standard, users will be able to specify a set of behaviors once and observe consistent behavior across multiple implementations.

“The working group has made tremendous progress since the Early Adopter release last year,” stated Lu Dai, Accellera Chair.  “Accellera is committed to the advancement of standards that increase productivity, and the Portable Test and Stimulus Standard will have a dramatic impact on the industry when it is released as a 1.0 standard later this year.”

“We have considered a wide range of issues as we continually improve the Portable Test and Stimulus Standard,” stated Faris Khundakjie, Chair of the Portable Stimulus Working Group.  “The Early Adopter release allowed the working group to gather timely public feedback and make progress on key features targeted for the first release of the standard.  We invite further public review and comment on the Early Adopter II release to help move us closer to our goal of an approved 1.0 standard.”
