The main task of this project, to our opinion, is creation of a new city contexture resolving a visual conflict between the image of modern European city (with the “Izmailovo” hotel complex constituting a part of it) a new growth (rather interesting to the public and a brand identity of the area) that does not blend in the city situation where original historical and cultural monuments are less sizable and more chamber, rather than the grandiose historical stylization.

In that vein we have specified, that the new building should come to the new modern fore, change perception of the Kremlin scale against the mass of newly built; the Kremlin silhouette should be read there and create the back burner.

Character and decor of the multi-purpose business complex of crafts, with its entire up-to-dateness, should support the Kremlin traditional and cultural object-matter. As can be seen from the above, we plan to include the Kremlin in the formation of a new town-planning situation.

The visual pattern, we built on, was the Russian trade fair (with due regard for trade and exhibition function of the project), when the city walls were facing bright exhibition pavilions and white canvases which were used as all-weather shelters.

The basic idea of the said solution is transparency of the first level, arrangement of the park landscape where cubic content of the trading platforms, fire-fighting staircases and technical premises are located in a free order, and the space both inside and outside is a public promenade area. The cubic content of the first level is finished with glass (with a possibility of night illumination), with applying of patterns of various types of traditional Russian decors.

The building upstairs accommodating basic exhibition spaces which do not require direct natural illumination are executed as the closed elementary skeleton structure, with an oversailing facade, which has polymer and fabric covering (Ferrari grid) fixed whereon, that meets the requirements to display the advertising information or another video sequence to the maximum extent.

As can be seen from the above, the cultural level which is more close to the visitor and which is located against the park landscape is connecting the existing complex of the Kremlin and is forming the basis for a more modern nonlinear form, composing all together a uniform architectural ensemble.
