OPEN MIND Co-Hosts Dental CAD/CAM Workshop in New York City

Thursday, April 11, 2013 - OPEN MIND Technologies USA, Inc. will co-host a dental CAD/CAM technology workshop in New York City on April 19, 2013.  Together with Datron Dynamics of Milford NH, the presentations will focus on design and manufacturing of dental restorative components, such as copings, crowns and bridges, and advanced sub-structure components such as implant abutments, pre-milled abutments, and implant bars.  The event will be located at the Dental Laboratory Group in Staten Island NY, who will also present solutions with 3shape products for scanning and dental design.

The independent process steps are all available as part of open-architecture dental workflows, but will be demonstrated as a cohesive system during the workshop.  Outputs from 3shape are directly entered in hyperDENT™ CAM software, providing geometry models and additional metadata such as margin lines, part orientation and more.  hyperDENT uses pre-defined dental machining templates and can make components that are compliant with many popular implant systems.  The output from hyperDENT is tailored to meet the requirements of the Datron D5 Dental Milling System, which has a front-end control system mask that is defined specifically for the dental market.  Solutions exist for dental materials including titanium, cobalt-chrome, zirconia and more.

Sample parts will be machined during the workshop and attendees can confirm fit into reference dental analogs.  The event will also include discussion periods where students can interact with domain specialists that combine to make the successful dental CAD/CAM system.

The event provides 6 hours of CDT Continuing Education Credits.

Recent enhancements to hyperDENT also include technology to support the NT Trading work-holding device that can be used with pre-fabricated and FDA-approved abutment interfaces.
