The National Association of REALTORS® Selects Maponics Data to Micro-Target Its Public Advocacy Campaigns

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Vt. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — November 8, 2011 — Maponics ( www.maponics.com), provider of location-based data, announced today that the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) is employing Maponics School District Boundaries TM and Neighborhood Boundaries TM to power the NAR Ad Generator and other tools central to the on-the-ground success of its latest nationwide Public Advocacy Campaigns. Now, NAR associations across the country will be able to search by neighborhood, school district and city to download micro-targeted information and materials related to national hot button real estate issues impacting their local areas. With this, REALTORS® will be better positioned to speak effectively to local consumers and public policymakers about key topics that matter to REALTORS® and their clients.

Public advocacy is consistently rated as the most important benefit that members receive from the NAR, and the association is a leading advocate for real estate issues. Current campaigns center on protecting homeownership for future generations, by addressing topics like access to affordable mortgage financing, tax incentives for home ownership, overly stringent credit requirements and cumbersome short sales and foreclosures.

"NAR will be using Maponics school district boundaries and neighborhood boundaries to facilitate member engagement at the local political level," said Walter Witek, Senior Vice President, Community and Political Affairs of NAR. “We recognize the valuable role that government, especially local government, plays in homeownership. Using Maponics data will help us support our members more individually as they actively engage with their representatives and their communities to address key issues.”

“Maponics specializes in working with real estate companies to develop unique Web and mobile-based search applications,” said Mark Friend, Maponics Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “This internal application of our data is another great use. As we all know, the business climate individual real estate professionals face is often determined at the school district and neighborhood level. NAR is giving its members the tools they need to succeed – locally micro-targeted strategy, information and materials.”

This is the second member-oriented resource that the NAR has licensed Maponics data to power. In 2010, the NAR announced that it would integrate Maponics School District and School Attendance Zone Boundaries into its acclaimed Realtors Property Resource TM (RPR). Using Maponics boundary data to geographically parse extensive NAR datasets, RPR provides an easy way to view the relationship between properties and public schools in map displays. It also offers a comprehensive and current source for public and private school information and the ability to view reports and analytics by school attendance zones and school districts.

Maponics School Boundaries is the first commercial GIS data product to include explicit school attendance zone boundaries across the nation. In addition to locally-sourced public school attendance zone boundaries for covered metro areas, this dataset includes nationwide coverage of school district boundaries as well as public and private school locations and profiles.

Maponics Neighborhood Boundaries contains more than 150,000 neighborhoods worldwide. With the launch of Maponics Subdivision Boundaries TM, Maponics combined databases of neighborhoods and real estate subdivisions is greater than 425,000.

Maponics school, subdivision and neighborhood boundaries, as well as additional real estate-related datasets, are all available for license in numerous GIS data formats. Many Maponics datasets can also be accessed through the Maponics Spatial API.
